SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, revealed the government’s ambitious goal of establishing more than 19,000 business enterprises and providing livelihood opportunities to over three lakh young individuals. He made this announcement during the ‘Gen Next Democracy Network Program’ at SKUAST-K, where 19 delegates from nine countries were visiting as part of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) initiative.

LG Sinha emphasised, “Through this program, we are targeting to start over 19,000 business enterprises and we are also targeting to provide livelihood to over three lakh youth of Jammu and Kashmir.”

He acknowledged that the region had faced state-sponsored militancy for more than three decades, but he highlighted the positive impact of various schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. These efforts, he stated, have contributed to isolating the terror ecosystem.

Sinha also underscored the progress made in the past four years, including economic growth and a significant increase in tourism. He noted that industrial investment, including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), is flowing into the region, leading to transformation and development.

“The cities are adopting smarter living solutions, and districts are evolving into production bases,” Sinha remarked. He further emphasised that in recent years, the region has achieved a notable position, ranking fifth in India in terms of farmers’ income, which is significantly better than in many other places.
