SRINAGAR: The JK and Ladakh High Court issued show cause notices to three advocates for allegedly making outrageous remarks against the judiciary during a media interaction. The comments were related to the Bar’s opposition to moving the Jammu bench from Janipur to Raika forests.

The notice has been issued against Arvind Bhandral, Umesh Sharma, and Bhavishya Sudan, for “scandalizing the institution of judiciary”. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice’s Secretariat has asked the three advocates, to provide an explanation by October 25, media reports said.

The notice to these lawyers was issued on October 17 by MK Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh.

The foundation for the new high court complex at Raika in Jammu was laid by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on June 28, the move that has widely been opposed by the Jammu based lawyers. The lawyers have raised concerns that the shifting of the High Court complex to Raika would cause serious hardships for thousands of them.
