SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation (JKYF) revealed its Bilingual Annual Wall Calendar for the Year 2024 at its Headquarters, ‘BAITUL HILAL,’ Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on Monday.

An official spokesperson stated that the calendar’s publication aimed to disseminate information and education related to the social service sector to the common masses.

A launching ceremony took place at JKYF Central Office ‘BAITUL HILAL,’ with the participation of eminent personalities, educationists, government officials, and the public, displaying enthusiasm and a sense of belonging for the social service cause.

The Bilingual calendar in English and Urdu focuses on social service messages concerning the skill development of children, good deeds, charity, and common humanitarian causes, as per the spokesperson.

The JKYF Calendar-2023 sheds light on socio-economic, educational, ecological, and environmental challenges faced by the poor, destitute, and society at large.

It covers the Jammu and Kashmir government’s listed Gazetted and other holidays, alongside highlighting the plight of the poor and needy, emphasising society’s responsibility to address various problems and challenging situations.

Additionally, the Calendar underscores diverse forms of charity, issues faced by poor individuals in debt to banks and money lenders, the need for entrepreneurship and training skills among underprivileged children, women empowerment, and the importance of rewards for leading a virtuous life.

The Islamic Calendar, ‘Meeqat e Salah,’ and information about various important days observed nationally and internationally are included in all months of the Year 2024.

Former Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqui, emphasized instilling a sense of truthfulness and high moral character among scholars of ‘BAITUL HILAL,’ along with exposing them to a value and skill-based education system.

Prof Siddiqui stressed the importance of blending religious education with the modern education system, preparing children for a world where coding, linked to Artificial Intelligence and data processing, plays a crucial role.

Former Director/Mission Advisor School Education Kashmir, Muhammad Rafi, appreciated JKYF’s sincere volunteerism and urged the implementation of institutional safeguards to protect public institutions.

Speakers highlighted the need for checks and balances, a transparent and fair system, and discouraging personal interests that could harm the institutional structure.

Chairman JKYF, Mohammad Rafiq Lone, during the vote of thanks, called upon all sections of society to actively contribute to uplifting deserving individuals from the morass of ignorance, helplessness, and hopelessness.

The Calendar showcases physical and financial achievements for the Financial Year 2022-2023, covering JKYF’s welfare programmes, including the Widow Welfare Programme, Poor Welfare Programme, Marriage Assistance for Orphan and poor Girls, Educational Assistance for Girls, Higher Education Scholarship Programme, and others.

The function began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Na’at by BAITUL HILAL scholars, setting the tone for the proceedings conducted by Javaid Jawad, Programme Executive Press & PR, JKYF.
