SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, on Sunday said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will continue to chair cabinet meetings at various locations, including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, to directly monitor developmental works as part of the “governance at the doorstep” initiative.
Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Tanvir said, “The Chief Minister is chairing cabinet meetings wherever necessary, and now he will be holding meetings in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and other areas to personally oversee developmental works. He is committed to reaching every doorstep to ensure public issues are addressed.”
Refuting rumours that senior NC leader Aga Ruhullah Mehdi is planning to quit the party, Tanvir Sadiq termed the reports “completely fabricated and baseless.” He said, “Aga Sahab attended the recent working committee meeting, and I was present. He did not walk out; he sought permission to leave due to a family emergency following the death of a relative.”
Tanvir further said that all members, including Aga Ruhullah, unanimously supported the seven resolutions passed during the meeting, including the one concerning special status. “Some individuals who are displeased with the resolutions are now trying to create confusion and falsely suggest that Aga Sahab is unhappy with the party or the governance. That is simply untrue,” he said.
He added that every member of the NC working committee, including Aga Ruhullah, stood by the resolutions and the party’s collective vision.
Earlier, a news report triggered public discussion by claiming that NC MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi walked out of the party’s working committee meeting held on Wednesday. The report also alleged a heated exchange between Aga Ruhullah Mehdi and NC Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. (JKNS)
