SRINAGAR: In a significant stride towards preserving and enhancing the cultural and spiritual heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha virtually inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the restoration of the Shiv Khori shrine. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group, and the entire team for taking on the monumental task of restoring the sacred site.

Shiv Khori, an essential pilgrimage destination, has held a special place in the hearts of devotees across the country. Sinha highlighted the importance of this religious site and the significance of the restoration project. He praised the efforts of JSW Group for their commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience and thereby increasing the flow of devotees.

“The new and upgraded facilities are poised to create a unique spiritual tourism circuit for the devotees, which will not only enrich their experience but also provide a substantial boost to the local economy,” stated the Lt Governor. Despite being unable to attend the ceremony in person due to inclement weather conditions, he conveyed his best wishes to all involved in the restoration project.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised the UT Administration’s dedication to enhancing the religious tourism circuit and preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. He underlined that this effort aligns with the broader vision of balanced development coined as Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi, advocated by the Prime Minister.

Jindal, the driving force behind JSW Group, shared insights into the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed gratitude to the Lt Governor for the opportunity to serve the people of the Union Territory through the JSW Foundation. Additionally, he outlined the detailed execution plan for the restoration project.

As part of the restoration project, the JSW team, alongside a group of experts, conducted a comprehensive scientific survey. This survey identified several key areas for improvement, including the renovation of bathing ghats and toilets, the establishment of food kiosks, drinking water points, rest areas, rain shelters along pathways, installation of benches, dustbins, and the creation of other necessary infrastructure and facilities.
