SRINAGAR: In a remarkable medical achievement, the Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag successfully operated on a 12-year-old boy with an exceptionally rare vascular tumour deep inside his nose.
The tumour, known as Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JNA), originated from the skull base, making the surgery particularly complex and challenging, GMC spokesman said
Led by Professor Dr Sajad Majid Qazi, the ENT surgical team performed the procedure, which lasted approximately four to five hours without any complications. Employing a combined endoscopic and lateral Rhinotomy approach, the team included specialists Dr Salman Khursheed (Consultant), Dr Amir Yousuf (Assistant Professor), and Dr Ehsan (Registrar).
