SRINAGAR: Srinagar experienced a chilly night with temperatures plummeting to minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, adding to the ongoing cold wave in the region. Qazigund recorded an even more frigid night, with the mercury dipping to minus 6.6 degrees Celsius, making it one of the coldest spots in the Kashmir Valley.

In Pahalgam, known for its serene landscapes and as a popular tourist destination, the temperature settled at minus 2.6 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Kupwara and Gulmarg each recorded a low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius, reflecting the intensifying cold across the region. Kokernag registered a temperature of minus 5.8 degrees Celsius, while Konibal recorded minus 2.6 degrees Celsius.
The sharp drop in temperatures has caused water bodies to freeze in several areas, with frost-covered roads and fields becoming a common sight. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions against the cold and to ensure safety during travel, particularly in frost-prone regions.
