The Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), an amalgam of various trade organizations has expressed concern over the alleged harassment of Kashmiri students and workers outside the state.

“KEA has taken a very serious note of the hate and prejudice Kashmiri students of Ganga Institute of Technology, Jajar Haryana. The students are reportedly facing harassment at the hands of the management and fellow students especially in the hostel. The plight described by these students in their communications to KNS is shocking”, the KEA Chairman Muhammad Yasin Khan said in a statement on Monday.

He has appealed all Kashmiris to take notice of the issue. “Though the mails etc., are addressed to the Kashmir civil society and the Govt., authorities, yet, KEA feels that every single Kashmiri, irrespective of his affiliation to any school of thought, should take serious note of this report and focus attention on ways to ensure security and safety of these students”, he added.

He said the state government was duty bound to ensure well being – both mental and physical- of all the Kasmiris, especially the youth, who go out of the valley in pursuit of education or work. “Reports emanating from last few years have shown increasing incidents of hate and dislike for Kashmiris especially in the states governed by BJP”, he added.

He said the KEA is contemplating to take up these issues with various student organizations in various colleges and universities, especially where the number of our students is sizeable.

“Fellow citizens are requested to assist, help and guide us further in this endeavour”

He Incidents of rapes, eve-teasing etc.,all over India are discussed everyday on the electronic  media. “The trauma and ill effects of these actions are debated in detail and remedies/solutions and measures sought and offered by people of various walks of life. No one thus far has discussed or brought forward the plight of our women folk to the forefront”, he lamented.

“Our women, young and old, married or unmarried all over the valley are subject of the worst behavior from SOG, Paramilitrary forces and other men in uniform. AFSPA gives them impunity to do whatever they want and feel to do, and they get away with all the excesses”, he said.

“One wonders what the Indian students and female activists would call this humiliation, crime against women etc, in Kashmir—a necessity in the national interest, perhaps; or may be campaign against jawans who are fighting for a greater cause”, he added.

He said the KEA feels and believes that time has come to wage our own battle and fight against these excesses happening on everyday basis especially in remote villages and far flung areas of Kashmir.
