Reacting to recent remarks by ex-Indian RAW chief AS Dulat, JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday said his party has a distinction of starting and continuing the freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmir against all odds.

While taking a dig at Malik for stating that no “bilateral solution” can be imposed on Kashmiris, Dulat Friday alleged that Malik wants to “ruin” the efforts of track 2 diplomats who worked so hard to bring India and Pakistan on the table over Kashmir. Dulat even suggested Malik to “settle in Pakistan”.

A day after, Malik said that JKLF leaders, activists aren’t cowards, who flee at the time of hardships.

“AS Dulat and people like him should know that when Pakistan and India signed a bilateral accord in Shimla, and Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah signed a humiliating accord with Indira Ghandi and in his own sense buried the freedom movement of Kashmir. Our leader martyr Muhammad Maqbool Butt who was residing in Pakistan at that time chose the path of thorns and came back to his mother land to revive the freedom struggle,” Malik said in statement.

“Maqbool at that time announced that the nation of Kashmir needed a worker not a leader. He left Pakistan, his children, came to Kashmir and revived the freedom struggle here. He got arrested, spent eight years in Tihar jail before being hanged in 1984.”

Malik said that within 4 years of Maqbool’s hanging, world saw that the blood of Maqbool brought colour and people of Kashmir under the banner of JKLF started a peoples’ revolution in 1988 and changed the course of history.

“JKLF faced every hardship but has never left the path of struggle and sacrifices. This is the history of JKLF and those outsiders who represent oppression and tyranny and are today telling us to go to Pakistan should know that we are not cowards who on seeing danger and hardships will flee and shun the path of struggle. We have and will face tyrants and oppression but will never shun the path of truth and struggle.”

“Kashmiris have rendered valuable sacrifices for their freedom and Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and their Indian mentors are telling us to forget these sacrifices and accept a status quo.”

He said that Kashmiris will never accept the diplomacy of status quo.

“We have and will face every hardship and oppression but will never compromise on our freedom, dignity and honour. Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris and any solution that is imposed on us from outside will not be accepted by the people of Jammu Kashmir.”

Malik strongly condemned the re-arrest of JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt who has been again arrested by police after court quashed his PSA.

“Police and authorities have violated every rule and regulations of theirs and have unleashed a reign of terror against Kashmiris. Zahoor Ahmad Butt is in jail from last many years and his PSA has been quashed many times but authorities are still caging this ailing person which is highly condemnable.”
