Protestors attacked a lawmaker from South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Monday.
A report in NDTV.com said that his car turned upside down when a group of protestors attacked it. He was on way to summer capital.
The Pulwama lawmaker, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, the report said was heading towards Srinagar in the dead of night around 1 am when people started throwing stones at his car.
As the driver tried to speed away, the vehicle flipped over, leaving the politician seriously injured. He has been taken to an army hospital at Badamibagh.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Muneerul Islam told KNS that the legislator’s car met an accident due to blockade on the road in Pulwama town.
“He was shifted to BB Cant hospital and is stable,” Islam told KNS. “I talked to the MLA and he is stable,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited Bandh in the hospital today.
The CM, recently, sent all her Kashmir based cabinet colleagues to district headquarters and she had directed her party MLAs to be present in their constituencies.
Lawmakers have been accused of not reaching out to the people or even visiting their constituencies. Bandh was, however, returning to Srinagar after visiting Pulwama.
The report said that Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti herself rushed to army base hospital to meet injured Khalil Bandh.
At least 42 civilians were killed by government forces since July 09 after protests erupted following the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani.
