SRINAGAR: The Advisor to the Chief Minister on Wednesday emphasised the need to strengthen Kashmir’s tourism sector further, highlighting the pivotal role of the Tulip Garden in boosting visitor inflow.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the tulip garden’s opening, CM’s Advisor Nasir Aslam said, “This season has started on a positive note due to the Tulip Garden, attracting a large number of tourists. To sustain and enhance this momentum, we must focus on improving infrastructure and facilities.”
He stressed the need to diversify tourism attractions across the region. “If we have a Tulip Garden in Srinagar, we should develop almond and cherry blossom zones elsewhere. Expanding such initiatives will help boost tourism across Kashmir.”
The Advisor noted that focusing on a single destination would not yield long-term results. “Diversifying tourism products and destinations is key to making tourism sustainable and ensuring year-round visitor interest,” he said.
He also underscored the importance of supporting the local population dependent on the tourism industry. “By enhancing infrastructure, creating new attractions, and ensuring sustainability, we can strengthen tourism as a key economic driver for Kashmir,” he added.
Nasir said, “The Omar-led government’s goal is to make Kashmir a global tourist destination with world-class facilities that benefit both visitors and the local economy.” (JKNS)
