According to officials, the enforcement wing and engineers of LCMA carried out the operation as part of ongoing efforts to remove unauthorised constructions from the colony. The Rakhe-e-Arth resettlement colony, developed specifically for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers, has been witnessing illegal occupation and construction activities, the authority said.

LCMA clarified that only Dal dwellers, who have shifted from the lake and been compensated for the acquisition of their structures and land, are entitled to plots in the colony. So far, 1,806 plots have been allotted to such displaced families.

However, authorities revealed that some individuals, including those from other districts of Kashmir, have unlawfully occupied plots either through forged documents or without any formal authorisation. “It has come to the notice of LCMA that certain notorious elements are misleading the public and selling plots based on fake promises and documents,” an official statement said.

The LCMA warned that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in the illegal sale or occupation of plots. It reiterated that no person other than genuine Dal dwellers has the right to purchase or occupy land within Rakhe-e-Arth.

Anti-encroachment operations will continue, and all structures built without valid authorisation or based on fraudulent documents will be demolished, the authority added. LCMA has already collected relevant information, and the clean-up process has been initiated.
