SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an inclusive system for Divyangjans, stating that the government is focused on removing all barriers to ensure their dignity, participation, and equal opportunities.
Speaking at an event marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, the Lieutenant Governor said he “saluted the resilience, determination and potential of Divyangjans”, stressing the need for officials and social organisations to protect and promote their rights.
Organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC) Jammu, the event was held under the theme “Celebrating Ability, Preserving Culture,” in line with this year’s global theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
The Lieutenant Governor said inclusion of persons with disabilities was the foundation of equitable development and called for collective sensitivity and awareness to ensure access to education, skills, livelihoods, and public facilities. He highlighted initiatives undertaken by the UT Administration for socio-economic empowerment of Divyangjans and noted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special efforts had been made to expand opportunities and improve quality of life for persons with disabilities.

Sinha also commended CRC Jammu for its rehabilitation work, noting that since 2024 the centre has conducted over 35,000 clinical surveys and distributed assistive devices worth more than ₹2 crore.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor distributed assistive devices and kits to beneficiaries and inspected stalls set up by various social service organisations.
