SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with officials informing that more than 1.13 lakh devotees have so far performed darshan at the holy cave shrine.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor directed senior officials to ensure proper registration of pilgrims and provide adequate assistance to devotees on the ground throughout the pilgrimage.
“Our goal is to make this pilgrimage a truly memorable experience for everyone and ensure access to the best possible amenities. Safety, security and hassle-free darshan of Baba Barfani must remain our top priority,” Sinha said.
He said the Amarnath Yatra is deeply connected with the country’s spiritual and cultural heritage and called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to make this year’s pilgrimage successful.
The Lieutenant Governor said the Yatra should set a benchmark for spiritual tourism across the country, adding that collective efforts could create a model for similar pilgrimages nationwide.
Sinha also urged pilgrims to experience Jammu and Kashmir’s local hospitality, traditional arts and crafts during their spiritual journey.
“By supporting and promoting local products, we can ensure that the pilgrimage becomes not only a profound spiritual experience but also a meaningful celebration of the local economy, culture, and heritage,” he said.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed the functioning of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board’s 24×7 Control Room established at Lok Bhavan for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
He also took stock of arrangements along the Yatra routes, security deployment, functioning of langars, queue management systems at various locations and facilities near the holy cave.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, senior administrative officials and officers associated with the management of the annual pilgrimage.
