In a post on X, Mirwaiz said that human and political rights in Kashmir already stood “denied” and accused the administration of “relentless interference” in religious affairs, from restrictions on religious gatherings to curbs on community practices.

He cited instances including the controversy over the Ashoka plaque at Hazratbal, changes to Muslim calendar holidays, and disallowing functions at mosques as examples of state interference.
Mirwaiz further said that despite restrictions, the pulpit of Jama Masjid would “continue to raise its voice” against both religious interference and what he termed the violation of people’s rights and disempowerment.
Authorities have not immediately commented on his claim.
