SRINAGAR: In a historic first for Jammu & Kashmir, two towering Alm-e-Sharief flags have been hoisted on Srinagar’s foreshore road.

Aga Syed Abid Hussain, a prominent Shia leader, supervised the installation and informed the news agency KNO that these two Alm-e-Shariefs were raised on the busy foreshore road.

“The first flag stands at 62 feet, and the second one is an impressive 72 feet tall,” Aga stated, noting that both flags were crafted by local artisans as an expression of their profound respect and love for Imam Hussain (AS).

The installation process took nearly a day due to the heavy traffic on the boulevard, he added. The immense height of the ‘Alm’ made it a challenging yet remarkable feat, completed within a day.

While the locals have been installing Alm-e-Sharief flags in the area for a long time, this occasion witnessed the placement of these two remarkable large flags. The Alm-e-Sharief will be respectfully taken down from the site after the month of Muharram and a few days of Safar, Hussain further explained.

Additionally, the locals and others involved in Muharram preparations have adorned the side of Dal Lake and foreshore road with numerous other banners and hoardings. (KNO)
