SRINAGAR: In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated the services of four employees suspected to be linked to militancy. The dismissed individuals include a doctor, a police officer, a teacher, and a lab attendant employed in the Department of Higher Education.

The dismissals were made under Article 311 of the Constitution of India. The dismissed employees include Dr Nisar ul Hassan, Assistant Professor of Medicine, GMC Srinagar. He is a resident of Achabal Sopore.

Abdul Majid Bhat of Kunan Village in Kupwara was also dismissed. He was a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Reports said he was also arrested in a drug case.

Farooq Ahmad Mir a teacher, who resides in Malik Mohalla Kupwara has also been dismissed from service. The fourth employee dismissed from service is Abdul Salam Rather, a laboratory bearer in the higher education department. He lives in Yamrach Yaripora.

Dismissals under Article 311 do not require any enquiry.

The decision to relieve these government employees of their duties was made as part of stringent measures to curtail any activities deemed detrimental to national interests. The government alleges that the terminated individuals were involved in actions that posed a threat to national security and maintains that their suspected affiliations with terrorist groups warranted immediate action.

Sources within the government reveal that the dismissed doctor, police officer, teacher, and lab attendant were found to have connections with organisations actively working against the country’s interests. Authorities are particularly concerned about any potential collaboration that could compromise regional stability.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha earlier said the government has already terminated 55 employees for their involvement in separatist activities and militancy.
