“Talks cannot be conducted if incidents like those in Rajouri, Kokernag, and Srinagar continue. Establishing a suitable atmosphere for discussions is essential, and it is not solely India’s duty but primarily Pakistan’s responsibility to take concrete measures for regional peace,” said Omar Abdullah, speaking with reporters during an event held in Jammu.

He urged Pakistan to step forward and fulfill its role in creating a favourable environment for bilateral discussions. However, given the current circumstances, there are no signs of Pakistan contributing to a peaceful atmosphere.

In response to a query, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated, “I have expressed my perspective during the India Alliance meeting. However, it is up to the alliance to either accept or reject my viewpoint. I have presented my viewpoint, exercising my right. I did not walk out or boycott the meeting. I simply conveyed my party’s stance. I did not impose my opinion. It is my standpoint, and I am not retracting from it. Now, it is at the discretion of the alliance to accept or dismiss my perspective.”

He further remarked, “To counter the BJP effectively, we should field united candidates in areas where the BJP has a chance of winning.” (KNS)
