SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital to discuss key issues concerning the Union Territory, with particular focus on the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.
During the meeting, Abdullah apprised the Prime Minister of the prevailing situation in the Valley following the 22 April attack in Baisaran Valley, a tourist destination in the Pahalgam region, which has left the state in mourning and shock.
The Chief Minister conveyed the profound grief and collective outrage of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the heinous act. He also highlighted the region’s firm stance against violence and underlined the growing sense of unity among its residents in rejecting terrorism.
On April 28, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Pahalgam terror attack in the strongest terms, reflecting the resolve of public representatives to uphold peace and harmony in the region.
Abdullah reaffirmed to the Prime Minister the commitment of both the government and the people of Jammu and Kashmir to combat militancy and maintain communal harmony.
