SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday visited the shelling-affected areas of Rehari and Roopnagar in Jammu and expressed deep concern over the hardship faced by residents. He also paid tribute to Raj Kumar Thapa, JKAS, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Rajouri, who lost his life in Pakistani shelling.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister said, “Visited Rehari and Roopnagar at Jammu today to see the damage caused by the recent shelling. The pain and disruption faced by residents is deeply concerning. We stand with every affected family and will ensure all necessary support is provided without delay.”

Omar extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr Thapa, who was killed after a mortar shell struck his residence during cross-border shelling in Rajouri district on Friday night.
“Paid my heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr Raj Kumar Thapa, JKAS, ADDC Rajouri, who lost his life in the line of duty today due to shelling by Pakistan. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The Government stands firmly with his family in this hour of grief,” Omar stated.

Omar also assured the public that relief and rehabilitation measures are being expedited for all those affected by shelling in border and civilian areas.
