SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday described “Operation Sindoor” as a swift, precise and high-impact military operation that demonstrated India’s growing defence capabilities and its ability to compel adversaries to surrender, according to a PIB handout.
Addressing the second edition of the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur, the Raksha Mantri said the operation reflected a new military ethos and showcased the Indian Armed Forces’ capacity to conduct short-duration, deep-penetration and high-intensity missions in defence of national interests.
“Operation Sindoor is a testament to the swift, precise and joint response of the Indian Defence Forces to safeguard national interests,” Singh said while calling upon commanders of the three Services to remain future-ready by drawing lessons from the operation as well as the evolving global security environment.
The Defence Minister stressed the need to strengthen capabilities in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics and secure communication networks amid rapidly changing geopolitical and security challenges. He said future conflicts would increasingly involve hybrid threats, information dominance and simultaneous operations across cyber, space, electromagnetic and cognitive domains.
Highlighting the growing role of emerging technologies in warfare, Singh said integrated national preparedness across all spectrums of conflict had become essential. He also appreciated the progress made by the armed forces in enhancing jointness, technological integration and interoperability among the three Services.
“Future wars will not be won solely through weaponry, but through innovative thinking and enhanced synergy,” he said, adding that jointness remains central to the transformation taking place in the global defence sector.
The Raksha Mantri urged commanders to maintain the “element of surprise” in military operations to remain unpredictable to adversaries and secure a strategic advantage. At the same time, he cautioned the armed forces to stay vigilant against enemy surprise tactics and remain operationally ahead.
Reiterating the commitment of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthening defence preparedness, Singh said special emphasis was being laid on research in niche and emerging domains alongside induction of advanced weapons and platforms.
During the conference, the Defence Minister released a documentary film on Operation Sindoor, which highlighted the country’s operational preparedness and decisive response capability. He also released the Hindi version of Vision 2047 and the Joint Doctrine for Integrated Communication Architecture aimed at enhancing doctrinal clarity and interoperability during future multidomain military operations.
The conference, themed “Military Capability in New Domains”, brought together senior leadership from the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Armed Forces to deliberate on emerging security challenges, future warfare and integrated operational preparedness.
Detailed discussions were held on multidomain operations, technological transformation, cognitive warfare, cyber resilience against quantum and AI-enabled threats, indigenous defence innovation and AI-enabled warfighting concepts.
Advanced systems and platforms developed for intelligence fusion, operational planning and information management were also demonstrated during the event, reflecting increasing integration of cutting-edge technologies into joint operational structures.
The conference was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and other senior civil and military officials.
