SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired two high-level meetings on Wednesday to assess the security and political landscape following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 dead.
The Prime Minister first led a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), followed by deliberations of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs.
The CCS, which includes key ministers responsible for defence, home, finance, and external affairs, focused on reviewing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources indicated the discussions centred on India’s strategic approach and preparedness.
These back-to-back meetings came after the Prime Minister met senior military leaders on Tuesday, where he reiterated that the armed forces have full operational freedom to respond as deemed necessary.
Top ministers and security officials are said to be closely monitoring developments amid heightened tensions and expectations of a decisive response.
