SRINAGAR: Insha Mushtaq, an 18-year-old who lost her vision due to pellets in 2016, has successfully cleared her class 12th board examinations. The results were declared on Friday.

Insha Mushtaq, daughter of Mushtaq Lone from Sedow village in Shopian, has secured 319 marks in the examination.

Insha initially felt upset, believing that her marks were not as expected. However, her family members reassured her that she had actually obtained higher marks than those with full eyesight.

“I have been facing many challenges since 2016, but I have been striving to overcome them in order to lead a successful life,” she said.

When asked about her future plans, Insha expressed her desire to pursue a Bachelor’s degree and later prepare for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exam. Her aim is to become an IAS officer.

She emphasised the need for separate educational institutions in Kashmir to cater to specially-abled individuals who have been suffering in the absence of such institutions.

In her message to all specially-abled persons, she encouraged everyone to learn how to overcome challenges and live an independent life.

Her family members expressed their great happiness for Insha’s achievement and extended their gratitude to all who have supported her thus far.

Soon after the news broke, netizens congratulated her on various social media platforms. People shared photos and hailed her as an inspiration for all.

Insha was hit by pellets on the evening of July 11, 2016, three days after the death of Burhan Wani. (KNO)
