SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Muhammad Mansha Khaki, a distinguished Gojri writer from the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, for his outstanding contributions to linguistics and the preservation of culture and the Gojri language. Khaki was featured in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly Mann Ki Baat Radio address on Sunday, highlighting his achievements and efforts in the field.

“Mohammad Manshah of Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir has been engaged in efforts to preserve the Gojri language for last three decades. He comes from Gujjar Bakerwal, a tribal community. In his childhood, Manshah had to work hard to study and used to cover a distance of 20 kilometers on foot every day,’’ PM Modi said in his address.

He added, “Amidst such challenges, he obtained a Masters degree and it was only then that his resolve to preserve his language became stronger. The scope of Manshah’s work in the field of literature is so extensive that it has been conserved in about 50 volumes which include poems and folk songs. Manshah has translated many books in Gojri language.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi announced that his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast will not be aired for the next three months in line with political ethics in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
