SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Kashmir’s Shopian and Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal arrested two individuals in separate operations and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“In Shopian, a police party from Police Post Keegam, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Shopian, Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad (JKPS), intercepted a suspicious person at a checkpoint established at Marhang Crossing. The individual attempted to flee but was apprehended. During the search, 60 grams of charas-like substance was recovered. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Thoker, son of Gh Ahmad Thoker, resident of Tumlihaal, Pulwama,” police said.
In Ganderbal, police from Police Station Ganderbal, during naka checking at Beehama, intercepted another person who also tried to flee but was apprehended. “A charas-like substance, wrapped in corn husks and concealed in a polythene bag, was recovered. He has been identified as Ghulam Ahmad Parra, son of Ghulam Parra, resident of Beehama, Ganderbal,” police said.
Both accused have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigations are under way.
Police have urged the public to continue cooperating in efforts to counter drug-related activities.
