Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday slammed police for detention and torture of six students from Pampore alleging that the force was ruing the careers of the youth under a systematic plan.

In a statement, Geelani also appealed the international Rights groups to take a stock of the situation in the valley and impress upon India to being these “atrocities” to an end.

Pertinently, six students Muteeb Malik of Drangbal, Imran Ahmad Kondu of Kadlabal, Adil Hameed Dar and Aziz Basheer Khanday, Parvez Akhoon and Tabish Bhat of Namlabal were arrested on December 4 near Sempora when they were on way to Srinagar.

“They were first lodged in Pantha Chowk Police station then shifted to Safa Kadal,” he said. “From Safa Kadal Police Station they were shifted to Khanyar Police Station and then to Nowhatta Police Station where they are undergoing a third degree torture.”

Geelani said that one of the arrested students, Muteeb had to appear in his practical exams on December 5 and while Imran Kondu had to appear in 11th class examinations on December 8. However none of them was allowed to appear in the examinations.
