Srinagar: National Conference has asked the J&K Public Service Commission to change the scheduled day of the KAS prelim exams scheduled to be held on the 19th of March by a day to avoid non-participation of KAS aspirants who are also appearing for the Staff Selection Committee’s Combined Graduate Level Examination’s Final Level on the same date. Two delegations of KAS aspirants from the State called on NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu in Srinagar on Sunday and highlighted this grave issue that could have far reaching implications on their careers.
The NC Spokesperson said the J&K Public Service Commission should understand the gravity of the situation and apply common-sense and ensure aspirants focus on performing well in their exams rather than being distracted by an issue that could have been resolved by the Commission without any intervention and pleas. “The future of aspirants is much more important than procedural red-tape in the Public Service Commission and I urge the Commission to rescue students from this dilemma which has been thrust on them”, the NC State Spokesperson said while speaking to media-persons after meeting the KAS aspirants.
“The unsaid diktat from the PSC seems to be that aspirants should choose from either of the two exams – either the KAS prelims of the SSC’s CGL – Level 3 — which is an unacceptable attitude and would mar the prospects of these aspirants who have cleared the first two levels of the SSC’s CGL. For them to reach this stage and be forced to choose between clearing the final level or appearing for the KAS prelims would be a gross injustice and we will oppose this tooth and nail”, the NC Spokesperson added.
The NC Spokesperson spoke to the Minister for Education, Mr. Altaf Bukhari and urged that the Public Service Commission takes immediate action to rescue the students from this dilemma. “I have requested the Education Minister to ensure justice in done with the aspirants and he has assured me that the issue would be taken up with the Chairman J&K Public Service Commission and some resolution will be ensured. I hope that Government realizes its responsibilities towards our students and aspirants to these services and comes forward to resolve this situation”, the NC State Spokesperson added.
“We hope the Government defers the KAS prelim examination by at least four days to allow students appearing in the CGL exam from far-flung and border areas to appear in the exam and travel back in time to attend the KAS examination at their delegated venues”, the NC Spokesperson added.
