1.15 percent voter turnout was recorded in the first four hours of re-polling for Budgam district in Srinagar parliamentary constituency on Thursday.

Police officials while speaking to Kashmir Life said that till 11 am, 404 votes were cast at 38 polling stations out 35169 votes.

The Voting began at 7 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m.

Officials said that the votes have been cast in Chadoora 222, Beerwah 171, Budgam 03, Chrarai sharef 05. While as no vote has been polled in Khansahab.

Authorities have imposed section-144 except poll-bound areas of the district.

At least three hundred police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are guarding each polling station.

Re-poll was ordered in 38 polling stations of Chadoora, Chrarai Sharief, Khansahib and Beerwah tehsils of Budgam district where violence had disrupted the process on Sunday and at least eight people were killed in the clashes.

Due to the unprecedented violence, the south Kashmir Islamabad Parliamentary seat by-polls scheduled on April were to May 25.

Former chief minister and opposition National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah and ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Nazir Ahmad Khan are in the fray, while as other candidates have decided to withdraw from polls.
