Only Two percent voter turnout was recorded on Thursday in all 38 polling station of Budgam district in Srinagar parliamentary constituency for which re-poll was ordered after massive violence on polling day.

Police officials while speaking to Kashmir Life said that 709votes were cast at 38 polling stations out 35169 total registered votes as the polls closed at 4 pm.

Authorities had imposed section-144 except for the poll-bound areas of the district.

The voting remained peaceful except few minor stone pelting incidents, officials said.

At least three hundred force personnel are guarding each polling station.

the re-poll was ordered in 38 polling stations of Chadoora, Chrarai Sharief, Khansahib and Beerwah tehsils of Budgam district where violence had disrupted the process on Sunday and at least eight people were killed in the clashes.

Due to the unprecedented violence, the  Islamabad Parliamentary seat by-polls scheduled on April were to postponed to May 25.

Former chief minister and opposition National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah and ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Nazir Ahmad Khan are in the fray, while as other candidates have decided to withdraw from polls.
