SRINAGAR: The Regional Passport Office Srinagar will deploy a Mobile Passport Van in Kargil from Monday, 21 July to Friday, 25 July 2025, to provide doorstep passport services to residents of remote and underserved areas.
The initiative falls under the broader Passport Seva Project (PSP) of the Ministry of External Affairs, aimed at enhancing access to passport services across India, especially in far-flung regions. The Mobile Van will operate from the premises of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), VC Hall New Building, near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kargil.
Regional Passport Officer Shri B.S. Rawat described the move as “a proactive step towards delivering essential documentation services to citizens irrespective of geography.” He emphasised that the mobile service reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric governance.
Residents of Kargil and adjoining areas who wish to utilise the service must register through the official Passport Seva website at www.passportindia.gov.in. Applicants are required to select “Passport Van” as their service option and book a time slot between 21 and 25 July.
This initiative is expected to ease the burden of travel and reduce waiting times for passport seekers in remote locations, while also aligning with the Government’s broader vision of last-mile service
