Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said resolution of Kashmir problem and good governance have to go hand in hand for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a meeting of workers at Achabal in Anantnag she said the PDP during its brief tenure had put this strategy into practice
with spectacular results. She was flanked by senior party leader and MLA Mansoor Hussain, district president Peer Mohd Hussain, zone president Mohd Ibrahim and others.

Mehbooba Mufti“Keeping the peculiar situation of the state in mind, PDP had adopted an agenda which had the potential of addressing all the dimensions of Kashmir issue and also providing a better transparent and accountable system of governance,” she told party workers.

Mehbooba said after four years of NC -Cong govt formation, state has once again been brought to the verge of destruction.
“Development and accountability have taken back seat and corruption is ruling the roost,” she said, adding “People have to pay through their nose for the electricity which is hardly available, ration provided does not suffice the family, gas is not available even at triple the price.”

She said lifting of ban on govt jobs which should have been a boon
for the youth has been hijacked by back door entries for cash, and re-employment of retired employees on very high posts.

“In 2002,  PDP-Congress coalition govt had come like a breath of
fresh air in spite of so many problems. Similarly, in future PDP will
deal efficiently and with compassion the problems created by the
present regime,” Mehbooba said. She said that the party would work for the betterment of people by providing a clean, accountable and fair system of governance which has been demolished by the NC through its misgovernance and wrong policies.
