SRINAGAR

Reacting to the landmark decision of Apex Court that an option of ‘None Of The Above’ (NOTA) on the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and ballot papers should be made available to Voters, Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Muhammd Sagar said that this decision would not affect the electoral process at all.

Sagar told CNS that voters have right to reject any candidate, but this option would not impact the results of the elections. “I personally feel that EVMs have failed to deliver the goods and we should return to traditional system. The directions given by the Apex Court to the Election Commission of India is a noval decision and we can term it as an electoral reform. By this method a voter could express his resentment towards the candidates fielded by different political parties,” Sagar said.

He said that negative voting will lead to a systemic change in polls and political parties will be forced to project clean candidates.

  1. ofcourse Mr. Sagar is right…coz in our state governments are decided by center not by its people… so it doesn’t matter if there is negative voting or not… all you need is to have good relation with center, implement its policies and have good rapo with army…. relation with states people is not in compulsory to win the elections….
