SRINAGAR: A Russian drone attack damaged an energy facility in Odesa, leaving more than 29,000 residents without electricity, Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday, as reported by Reuters.
The strike targeted critical infrastructure in the southern port city, disrupting power supplies to homes and businesses. Emergency repair teams were deployed to restore electricity, but officials warned that outages could persist in some areas.
Ukraine’s energy operator as per AP said the assault was part of Moscow’s continued campaign against civilian infrastructure, which has intensified in recent weeks. Odesa, a key Black Sea hub, has been repeatedly hit since the escalation of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power grid last winter.
No casualties were reported, though local officials cautioned that further attacks could deepen the region’s energy crisis ahead of the colder months.
