SRINAGAR: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose has strongly criticised the Narendra Modi government over the demolition of houses belonging to alleged terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In a post on X, Ghose likened the demolitions to “bomb justice” in Kashmir, drawing a parallel with “bulldozer justice” in Uttar Pradesh, which was recently ruled illegal by the Supreme Court. She questioned the government’s timing, asking why action against alleged terrorist hideouts was only taken after the deadly Pahalgam attack.
“After bulldozer justice in UP is ruled illegal by the Supreme Court, now ‘bomb justice’ in Kashmir,” Ghose wrote. “If security agencies knew where homes of terrorists are located, why did it require the Pahalgam terrorist attack for this kind of action?” she asked.
Ghose, who serves as the deputy parliamentary party leader of the TMC in the Rajya Sabha, urged the government to avoid “optics” and instead focus on a “decisive fight against terror”. She added, “Punish the guilty. Don’t use collateral damage in Kashmir for headline management.”
Her remarks come amid an intense crackdown by security forces on the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the April 22 attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead. In the days following the attack, the houses of at least nine alleged terrorists have been demolished, over 500 locations have been raided across the Valley, and hundreds of suspects have been questioned.
