SRINAGAR: The Samba Police have claimed to have solved a blind murder case registered last year at Bari Brahmana Police Station, arresting two men and recovering both the weapon of offence and the vehicle used in the crime.
The incident occurred on the night of November 1, 2024, during Diwali celebrations in the industrial area of Bari Brahmana. According to police, 29-year-old Sushil Singh Manhas, a resident of Smailpur in Bari Brahmana tehsil, was stabbed by unidentified assailants who fled the spot immediately after the attack. He was rushed to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation was taken up by a team from Bari Brahmana Police Station. Under the supervision of the SDPO Bari Brahmana and overall supervision of the SSP Samba, the police identified and arrested the first suspect, Jalil Nutt, 25, a resident of Gopalganj district in Bihar.
During sustained interrogation, Nutt allegedly disclosed the involvement of a second accused, Mohammad Azad, 20, a resident of Sitamarhi district in Bihar. Azad was later traced and arrested by Samba Police from Gujarat. Police said both men confessed to stabbing Manhas in an act of revenge, leading to his death.
On Azad’s disclosure, police recovered the weapon of offence, described as a Chinese-made secessior, and seized a scooty bearing registration number JK02BM 7356, which was allegedly used in committing the crime. The police have said further investigation in the case is underway.
