Operation Trashi-I was launched to hunt down militants operating in the region. On February 4, security forces neutralised one militant in the general area of Dichhar in Kishtwar, the Indian Army said.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps stated that during the ongoing joint operation involving troops of CIF Delta White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, contact was re-established with militants on the run at around 5:45 pm in the Dichhar area. “One terrorist has been successfully neutralised. Operation is in progress,” the post said.

Earlier, on January 19, Army officers paid last respects to Havildar Gajendra Singh, a Special Forces soldier who lost his life during a counter-terrorism operation in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district. He was killed while carrying out the operation on the intervening night of January 18 and 19 as part of Operation Trashi-I.

Paying tribute on X, the White Knight Corps said the General Officer Commanding and all ranks saluted Havildar Gajendra Singh for making the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a counter-terrorism operation. The Corps also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and honoured his courage, valour and selfless devotion to duty.
