In his letter, Irshad Rasool Kaar highlighted the case of Shabir Ahmad Shah, 35, son of Late Ghulam Nabi Shah and a resident of Sopore, who has been missing since February 16, 2025, after checking out from the Continental Hotel in Delhi. A General Diary entry (GD No. 0025A) was lodged at Police Station Nabi Karim, Central District Delhi, on February 20, but there has reportedly been no significant progress in the investigation.

Calling the delay “alarming,” the MLA said the lack of communication from the investigating authorities has left the family distraught and increasingly anxious for Shabir’s safety. “The prolonged silence and lack of updates raise serious concerns about the efficacy of the probe,” the letter stated.

Given the sensitivity of the case, involving a Kashmiri resident gone missing in the national capital, Kaar has requested that a Joint SIT be formed with senior officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Delhi Police, and relevant central agencies. He also called for the Delhi Police to expedite their investigation and keep the family informed.

“This matter demands urgent higher-level intervention,” Kaar said, adding that such steps are essential not only for delivering justice but also for restoring public faith in the system.
