SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have traced and recovered 46 missing and stolen mobile phones, collectively valued in lakhs of rupees, and handed them over to their rightful owners.
The recovery followed multiple complaints lodged by residents across different parts of the district with the Cyber Police Station Kulgam. A formal ceremony was held at the station where Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Kulgam, Nisar Ahmad (JKPS), handed over the recovered devices to their owners after proper verification and authentication, in the presence of police officers and cyber unit staff.
Addressing the gathering, DySP Ahmad reaffirmed the Jammu Kashmir Police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ property and maintaining public confidence through transparent policing. He lauded the Cyber Police Station Kulgam team for their “professionalism, technical expertise, and consistent follow-up” in tracing the devices using advanced tracking systems and coordination with telecom service providers and technical agencies.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), also commended the cyber team for their effective efforts and urged citizens to remain vigilant against cyber frauds and online scams. He advised the public to adopt safe online practices and promptly report suspicious activities.
Police further encouraged citizens to report lost or stolen mobile phones via the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal at [www.ceir.gov.in](https://www.ceir.gov.in), an initiative by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
