SRINAGAR: Maximum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh remained below normal on Tuesday, with most stations in both regions recording significant deviations from the seasonal average.
In the Kashmir, Srinagar recorded a maximum of 22.7°C, which is 8.0°C below normal. Qazigund recorded 23.1°C (5.5°C below normal), Pahalgam 20.5°C (5.7°C below normal), Kupwara 23.8°C (7.3°C below normal), Kokernag 23.9°C (4.1°C below normal), and Gulmarg 15.6°C (6.2°C below normal).
In the Jammu region, the city of Jammu recorded 31.4°C, which is 4.0°C below normal. Other stations also saw cooler-than-usual temperatures: Banihal recorded 25.5°C (3.8°C below normal), Batote 23.3°C (4.2°C below normal), Bhaderwah 25.4°C (5.6°C below normal), and Katra 28.8°C (3.4°C below normal).
In Ladakh, Leh recorded a maximum of 22.8°C and Kargil 30.4°C.
According to a weather update from Kashmir Weather, a spell of cooler weather accompanied by rain is expected over the next 48 hours in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir due to a fresh Western Disturbance and active monsoon conditions. There is a possibility of intense showers and cloudbursts at isolated locations. Temperatures are likely to remain below normal, with chances of gusty winds and hailstorms in some places.
