Expressing surprise over the government’s causal approach vis-à-vis Common Entrance Test paper leakage, the CPI (M) State Secretary, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said weeks have passed and authorities are yet to come out with facts behind awful incident having a huge impact on thousands of students across the state.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Tarigami while expressing concern over the leakage of question papers in the CET conducted by Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) demanded a thorough probe into functioning of the Institution.

He said an impartial probe would fix the responsibility and as such lead to punishment to the culprits. Tarigami said leakage of question papers have exposed the integrity of the transparent institutions of the state like BOPEE.

“Such type of a causal approach has marred the future of thousands of talented and deserving students, and it will definitely affect the future of our state by promoting undeserving candidates through illegal means,” he added.

The CPI (M) leader said it is surprising that BOPEE had managed to twist the paper leak scam as packaging error. “The incident should not be taken lightly as the same has far reaching consequences on the already deteriorated academic environment in the Valley,” Tarigami observed.

He said papers were cancelled  in a most irresponsible and callous conduct having  a terrible impact on the psyche of the aspirants who had worked hard, burning mid-night oil in blazing summer to appear in the test.

“It is not that it has happened for the first time but the administration has failed to take any action against those entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining secrecy. The government must come clean on the issue as soon as possible and a time bound inquiry should be ordered in this regard,” he demanded.
