SRINAGAR: CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami on Saturday said that, if elected, he will hold the ruling dispensation accountable for their alleged wrongdoings and the assault on people’s rights over the past decade in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing rallies in several villages within the Kulgam constituency—including Tengbal, Kakran, Begam, Takai Begam, Gadihama, Pariwan, Sehpora, Odurah, and Nillow—Tarigami emphasised his unwavering commitment to defending people’s rights. He criticised those posing as independent candidates while being actual proxies who have shifted their positions over time.
Tarigami urged voters to recognise the significance of the upcoming assembly election and the impact of the events of August 5, 2019. He reminded them of the attack on their dignity, respect, and honour and stressed the importance of remembering this context.
He observed that the legislative assembly no longer wields the same authority as before and called on the youth to be aware of the changes affecting their rights and powers.
“It’s time for us to walk together. We aspire for our youth to thrive independently, but we must also build the opportunities for them to succeed. The challenges we face can only be met through unity, from villages to cities,” Tarigami concluded. – (KNO)
