Minimum temperatures continued their free fall in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday due to clear overnight sky, a Met official said.

“The minimum temperatures dropped further across Jammu and Kashmir today due to clear night sky. These temperatures are likely to drop further as the weather is likely to remain dry,” he said.

Kargil town of Ladakh region recorded the lowest minimum temperature at minus 23.5 degrees Celsius while Leh recorded minus 15.3 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded minus 3.9 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on today as compared to Saturday’s minus 3.0.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 11.0  degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 9.3 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.2  degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 4.5, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 5.8 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 4.8, Banihal 0.6, Batote recorded minus 0.4 and Bhaderwah minus 1.9 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
