The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it condemns the attack on the vessel and confirmed that out of the 24 Indian nationals on board, 21 have been safely rescued so far. Efforts are continuing to locate the remaining three missing crew members.
The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with Omani maritime authorities to support an emergency search and rescue operation.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating security environment in the Middle East, the MEA linked repeated attacks on shipping to broader regional geopolitical tensions and ongoing conflict.
It said such incidents are deeply worrisome and underscored the urgent need for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement to restore peace and stability in the region.
India also stressed the importance of protecting global trade routes from geopolitical disruption, calling for an immediate end to the targeting of civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping. It urged the international community to ensure free and unimpeded navigation through vital waterways in accordance with international maritime law.
