Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) met in Jammu region in an attempt to “maintain peace” on the International Border.
A flag meeting took place Tuesday evening in Samba’s Mangu Chack outpost between the commanders of the BSF’s 9th Battalion led by deputy commandant VB Yadav and the Pakistani Rangers’ 24th Battalion led by wing commander Asim Bhatti.
The main objective of the meeting was to maintain a “peaceful atmosphere” along the IB and make sure that no one violates the 2003 ceasefire, sources said.
Interestingly, the meeting took place day after two Indian army men were killed in alleged Indo-Pak shelling on the Line of Control in Gurez valley.
“Officers of both sides stressed that the farmers have suffered because of cross-border shelling and every effort now needs to be made to help them by maintaining peace on the international border,” the sources said.
