The details were shared in response to a starred Assembly question raised by Javaid Ahmad Mirchal.

According to the government, the 12 MW Karnah Hydroelectric Project is an upgradation of the existing 2 MW Old Karnah project and primarily involves enhancement of existing civil infrastructure.

It stated that no significant environmental issues or challenges have been encountered during execution, and no forest land has been involved in the project.

The government said approximately 75 kanals and 14 marlas of land were acquired for the project, with compensation already disbursed to landowners through the district administration. In addition, compensation assessed by the Public Works Department has been paid for structures belonging to individuals that fell within the project alignment.

It added that any damage caused to nearby structures due to blasting activities has also been compensated for necessary repairs and rectification.

As part of safety and mitigation measures, crate protection works have been carried out along Quazi Nag Nallah near the powerhouse site to safeguard nearby habitations and adjoining villages from potential flood risks.

The government further said that the road running along the alignment of the head race pipe, which was partially disturbed due to excavation and construction activities, will be restored to its original condition through blacktopping after commissioning of the project, as premeditated in the Detailed Project Report.
