The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre Monday, showcased its latest batch of 146 passing out recruits from the State of J&K who joined the Indian Army taking oath for “dedicating their lives in the service of nation”, a Srinagar based defence spokesperson said.
“Marching shoulder to shoulder, singing their Regimental Song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’, the young army men inspired one and all with their vigour & sense of pride,” the spokesperson said this evening in a statement.
“Recruit Course Serial number 102 culminated today after having completed 42 weeks of strenuous training. Their Passing Out Parade, depicting graduation of a Recruit and his transformation into a Young army man, was reviewed by Brigadier Suresh Chavan, Commandant, Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre and was attended by over 1000 parents and relatives of the young army men from the State of J&K along with a number of military personnel, the statement said, “the daunting army personnel of the Regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the State of J&K, took oath in unison to serve the supreme cause of the Nation. Their Ceremonial ardour and salute to the Tri-colour with National Anthem playing, inspired patriotic vigour in all present.”
“As part of the attestation parade, the Centre Commandant also presented The ‘Sher-e-Kashmir’ Sword of Honour and Triveni Singh Medal to Recruit Nuzran Ahmed Dar from Kulgam for being adjudged as the ‘Overall Best Recruit’ from the passing out batch. Recruit Nuzran also distinguished himself as ‘Best Recruit in Firing’ and received the ‘Chewang Rinchen Medal’ for the same. Recruit Firdous Yousuf Malik from Kupwara was the proud recepient of ‘Maqbool Sherwani Medal’ for being ‘Best in Physical Training’,” the statement informed.
“At the end,” the statement further said, “proud parents and relatives pipped the young army men making them ready to join their battalions and to tread the immortal path of glory, living up to the expectations and the best traditions of the Army. As a mark of respect, gratitude & recognition of contribution made by the parents of these young personnel, they were also presented with the Gaurav Padaks instituted by the Army.”
