SRINAGAR: Air India cancelled several international and domestic flights on Friday due to enhanced aircraft safety checks, adverse weather conditions, and ongoing airspace restrictions.
Cancelled flights include services on key routes such as Dubai-Chennai, Delhi-Melbourne, Dubai-Hyderabad, Pune-Delhi, Ahmedabad-Delhi, Hyderabad-Mumbai, and Chennai-Mumbai.
In a statement, Air India said: “Flights AI906 (Dubai–Chennai), AI308 (Delhi–Melbourne), AI309 (Melbourne–Delhi), AI2204 (Dubai–Hyderabad), AI874 (Pune–Delhi), AI456 (Ahmedabad–Delhi), AI2872 (Hyderabad–Mumbai), and AI571 (Chennai–Mumbai) have been cancelled due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons.”
The airline has offered full refunds or free rescheduling to affected passengers and is assisting with alternate travel arrangements.
“We regret the inconvenience caused. Our ground teams are helping passengers with revised plans. Passengers may opt for full refunds or complimentary rescheduling,” the statement added.
Passengers have been advised to check flight status updates through the airline’s website or by contacting the customer care numbers: 011-69329333 / 011-69329999.
The airline also warned of possible further disruptions due to continuing aircraft checks, airspace restrictions, and poor weather conditions.
On Thursday, Air India announced it would reduce international flights and temporarily suspend operations on three routes from June 21 to July 15, 2025. The airline attributed the cuts to enhanced safety checks on Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft and the need to manage longer flight times due to airspace closures in the Middle East.
“These measures are aimed at restoring schedule stability and minimising last-minute disruptions,” Air India said in a statement posted on X.
