SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council has issued a strict directive to private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres, clinical laboratories, and blood banks across the region, cautioning them against allowing unregistered medical practitioners to operate within their facilities.
In an official statement, the Council expressed serious concern over reports that some healthcare establishments were permitting doctors without proper registration to practice, perform procedures, or conduct surgeries. The Council emphasised that such practices violate established regulations, breach professional ethics, and jeopardize patient safety.
The Council has strongly urged proprietors and managing directors of these facilities to ensure that every medical professional, whether from Jammu and Kashmir or outside, obtains permanent or additional qualification registration through the J&K Medical Council. It reiterated that only registered practitioners should be allowed to work in these establishments, highlighting that online registration can be completed via the Council’s official website.
The statement warned that any healthcare facility found in violation of these guidelines would face disciplinary action under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations 2002. The Council stressed that compliance is essential to uphold professional standards and safeguard human lives, urging immediate adherence to the directive.
This move is part of the Council’s efforts to maintain strict oversight of medical practices in Jammu and Kashmir and ensure that patients receive care from qualified and certified professionals.
