Paying tributes to November 6, 1947 Jammu martyrs, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Monday decided to observe November 6 this year as “Solidarity Day” to express gratitude and remember the sacrifices of people of Jammu, Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region.
A statement of Hurriyat (m) said, “at a time when fanatics, divisive forces extremist elements and rightwing political parties in Jammu were trying to flare up communal tensions just like they did in 1947 for creating communal discord in Jammu region. it is high time that a clear message is sent to them that the people of J&K will not allow them to succeed in their evil and nefarious designs.” “In these circumstances, by observing November 6 as ‘Solidarity Day’, Hurriyat wants to send a message to the freedom-loving people of Jammu, Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region that people of Kashmir are with them in these difficult times.”
The statement said, “people of these regions and their deep-rooted affiliation with Kashmir and Kashmiris was an example that entire state of Jammu Kashmir is united as a single entity in demanding the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance to their wishes and aspirations.”
Terming November 6, 1947 a Black Day in the history of Jammu Kashmir, the statement said, “this was the day when fanatics and communal forces killed countless Muslims of Jammu in cold blood.”
Hurriyat is organizing a public rally at the Historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar on November 6, 2015, which would be addressed by its Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Hurriyat (m) is inviting Syed Ali Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik to attend the program while prominent resistance leaders from Jammu region have also been invited to attend the “Solidarity Rally”.
Condemning the crackdown on Kashmir’s resistance leadership and their detentions, and house arrests ahead of the visit of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to Srinagar, the conglomerate said, “this was undemocratic and proves the statements of the Indian leadership as a hoax.”
The conglomerate appealed people to participate in large numbers in the “solidarity Rally’ on November 6 at Jamia Masjid to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and also make “Million March” of November 7 a “success and send a message to the international community that people of Jammu Kashmir are united in their resolve and would not rest until they get their Right to Self Determination”.
