SRINAGAR: The annual Amarnath Yatra has crossed the two lakh pilgrim mark within just eight days, reflecting a strong turnout of devotees for the 38-day pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in the Kashmir Himalayas.
Officials said that more than 2.07 lakh pilgrims have performed darshan at the cave shrine since the commencement of the Yatra, which is progressing smoothly through both the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
Authorities said the steady flow of pilgrims is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with all necessary arrangements in place to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.
The administration, Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), security forces and various departments have made extensive arrangements, including healthcare facilities, accommodation, sanitation, transport and round-the-clock monitoring along the Yatra routes.

The annual pilgrimage, which attracts devotees from across the country, began earlier this month amid tight security arrangements. Thousands of security personnel have been deployed along the twin routes and transit points to facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrims.
Officials said the enthusiasm among devotees remains high as the Yatra continues peacefully, with more pilgrims expected to visit the shrine in the coming days.
